Essex LaSallians was founded by parent volunteers at Saint Michael’s Primary, located at Essex Road since 1999. The initial kickaround sessions pitting the parents against their sons at St. Michael's was intended to further strengthen the bonds between the fathers and their sons. The group gradually grew into a formidable veterans soccer team.
Over the years, the membership has grown. Today, Essex LaSallians comprise of 31 active and committed members – young and old - with very diverse backgrounds. Games are held every Sunday at Saint Joseph’s Institution, Malcolm Road.
Through the commitment and dedication of the members and their spouses, regular friendly games have also been organized for Essex Juniors team. This initiative serves to continue the tradition of continual bonding between fathers and sons.
The LaSallian Brothers arrived in Singapore in the 1850s to provide educational and spiritual guidance to the needy. This selfless spirit continues to be the cornerstone of our beliefs, through the participation of sports.
Hence the creation of the LaSallian Award. A monetary award to deserving students who excel in sports and embrace the LaSallian spirit.
Thanks to the founding members who first came together to seek companionship and fellowship in their unique and challenging journey as fathers, this spirit is now shared by more than just former students of LaSallian schools.
Today its members come from different alma maters, and of different creed and colour.
The logo is a cross, made up of the words 'Essex' and 'Lasallians' in a horizontal and vertical axis. The cross is the symbol of the true Lasallian spirit, the reason for our being.
The common letter from both words which forms the centre of the cross is the letter S. It is within a circular design in the shape of a soccer ball. This represents the core activity of the Essex Lasallians.
The logo is in the colour green. Green is the colour of life, renewal and peace. It’s also the primary colour of Christmas.
